Looking for ELWICKs
« on: Monday 28 March 05 17:27 BST (UK) »
Hello all.
I'm looking for any ELWICKs in or around Lyme Regis or Bridport. Specifically, I'm searching for the family of the late Patrick & Doris (aka 'Queenie', nee Burke) Elwick, and their four sons Barry, Patrick, Terence & Colin Elwick. Doris was the sister of my Great Grandmother, Winifred CK Burke.

I just want to make a statement saying "I'M HERE!!", to any ELWICK relies.

Thanks for reading!!

Ryan.

Hi Ryan,

have you tried putting ELWICK in Google ??

I found this site: The Elwick Home Page at http://www.geocities.com/saelwick/

At a quick glance, no Dorset ELWICKs but maybe worth examining the site closely. ... and maybe worth getting in touch ???

good luck,
Bob

Hello Bob,
Yes, I have tried Google for Elwick and I did find that site, as well. The lady that manages the site had actually exchanged letters with my Great Uncle Patrick Elwick, and said that he and his wife Doris lived in Bridport, where Doris passed away. Their sons also lived/live there too, and apparently, one of them is supposed to have an interest in family history so, if he ever comes across Rootschat I wanted to make a statement saying "I'M HERE!!".

Thanks for replying Bob.

Ryan.

I find this site very hard to use.
Munson, the name is mainly found in Suffolk, my grandmother, Alice Munson was born in the poorhouse in Little Horkesley, Essex, just over the border from Suffolk. In the church of St. Peter and saint Paul in Lt. Horkesley the Munson name in the parish go back to 1645.
Grandmother mariied W. Leach in Lt. Horkesley and her brothers name is on the war mermorial. John Munson.
Hope it is some use.
Regards
