Deakin family from Hanley
« on: Tuesday 08 June 10 18:51 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find any info on Ralph and Hannah Deakin both born circa 1783 in Hanley. I can find them on the 1841 and 1851 census. I have also found Ralph's death in1859 but no record of Hannah's. I believe they may be the parents of Hannah Burton b.1812 Hanley as they live just a few houses away from them in the 1841 and '51 census. On the 1861 Hannah Burton and her husband John are living with her mother named Hannah but the surname has been transcribed as Weather can anybody put these two families together??

Hi,

On the 1861 census image I don't think that the surname of mother-in-law Hannah looks like WEATHER. Comparing the letters with others on the page, the W is totally different. Looking at the previous page there is a David and a DODD where the D is the same as the W in 'WEATHER' so I think the name looks like DEA?IN, the ? could easily be a K and there is a . above the I.

Possible death,

Hannah DEAKIN    Dec Q 1862     Stoke Upon Trent    6b  96

Regards,
Daisy
