Mcechnie - Williamson marriage 1753
« on: Tuesday 08 June 10 15:16 BST (UK) »
I have found John Mcechnie marriage to Martha Williamson in Glasgow 1753.  They had a daughter, Margaret McKecknie (notice different spelling) in 1763 who went on to marry Henry Graham.

I would love to hear if anyone else has info on them.  Don't know when John and Martha born or died.  Had thought he born 1745 but not if marriage in 1753 is correct.

Hi

Thanks for reply, what does submitted entry mean?  If this is the same Martha and John they will be my gt grandparents x something, just not sure at moment - I haven't looked for a while.

I'll take a look at my info tomorrow, and hope we can fathom out if these are correct ones.

Regards

Susan

The entries on the IGI can generally be described as either extracted entries (ie they have taken them from the original documents)- which are fairly reliable or they can be submitted entries (entries submitted by members of the LDS Church) accuracy in the latter case can often be a problem.

Hi Palmeri

This is wonderful information - thankyou :)

John McKeckney and Martha Williamson are my 5x great grandparents.  I had no knowledge of their parents until now, and the variations in spelling of the name don't make it easy to search.
Their daughter Margaret, and Henry Graham had a daughter Elizabeth ( probably many others but again, I don't have any information).  Elizabeth married James Bain in Glasgow (1818 - I think) but from then until found in Clifton, Lancashire in 1861, I am unsure of their whearabouts.  James died in Manchester in 1874: Elizabeth later, just not pinned that down yet.

I'm really grateful to you for finding and replying to this post.

If it is possible to find information on James Bain I would appreciate it.
From his age at death I have presumed him to have been born c1796 in Glasgow, but my searches brought up so many with the same name.  I have found 3 children born to him and Elizabeth Graham. Their daughter Elizabeth b1827, Manchester  (my gt gt grandmother) had the middle name of McKerrow.  Perhaps that was passed from the parents of James Bain.
In 1846 Elizabeth married James Wood Bann, and named my gt grandfather Samuel Mckerrow Bann.  I would love to know if there is any more information out there.

Regards
Susan
