DO you know that Elsie was the eldest?
Was Hunt Ada's maiden name (from Elsie's birth cert?) if so could shehave been marriede before and therefore married to Willis under a different surname?
Have you found the family in 1911 - to see what clues there are there - eg older children, how many years do they say they have been married etc

I guess there are a lot of George Willises around, and as yet there is no info about yours like place or year of birth, so I would suggest it might be a little premature trying to guess at him as a 1 yr old!

If you find George and Ada with little ELsie in 1911 it might give a few clues - as I said before it should say how long they said they had been married. Also George and Ada will give an age and a place of birth. Hopefully any older children will be listed with places of birth, giving an idea of the families movements. Hopefully all this might lead to a marriage and therefore a fathers name for George. Only then, armed with an approx year and place of birth and a fathers name, you might pinpoint him on a census before his marriage.

After the start of Civil Registration in 1837, there should be a record of ALL marriages in the GRO index , wherever they took place, and a certificate can be ordered fron www.gro.gov.uk once you have found thet entry in the index.
Of course if they never actaully married then you wont get it!

How is Elsie's mother named in the birth certificate?

For example, is she named as "Ada Ellen Willis, formerly Hunt"? Alternatively, is she named simply as "Ada Ellen Hunt"?

The first case would suggest that her parents were married. The second case may indicate that her parents were not married.

I can't see a family with a 2 year old Elsie that fits in 1911.
Did they have anymore children?
Do you have Elsie's marriage cert- what does she say about her dad then/name,job etc? Who were the witnesses?

Do you have an address from her 1909 birth cert?
