Occupation, 1861
« on: Sunday 06 June 10 11:49 BST (UK) »
This is Thomas's occupation in 1861.  Clearly it's "traveller" but what's the other word?  The first letter is probably B, from the rest of this bloke's terrible handwriting.
Godden in East Sussex, mainly Hastings area.
Richards in Lea, Gloucestershire, then London.
Williamson in Leith, Vickers in Nottingham.
Webb in Bildeston and Colchester.
Wesbroom in Kirby le Soken.
Ellington in Harwich.
Park, Palmer, Segar and Peartree in Kersey.

I think the first part of the second word looks like 'Beer' or even possibly 'Bear' but I'm not at all sure whether there were the equivalent of commercial travellers for breweries in 1861..
Do you know anything else about him, or his occupation in the census before / after?

I can't find him on any other census.  I think "beer" is probably the best bet, thanks.
