Hugh SWEENEY in Portstewart
« on: Sunday 06 June 10 01:54 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

I am wondering if anyone can help me.  I am trying to locate the grave of Hugh Sweeney who died in the 1960's and is buried in Portstewart Graveyard.

I would be very grateful if anyone could give me any information on Hugh as I live in London and don't know the area.

Thanks for all your help

Kieran

Hi Carol,
Thanks for your reply and great news to hear that you might be able to find Hugh.  If you do find the headstone for Hugh could you possibly take a few photos for me.

I am very grateful for any help you can give me.

Thanks for all your help

Kieran

Hi kieran,  finally found Hugh Sweeney, hope this is yours  :)
The headstone reads- In loving memory of
Hugh Sweeney of 29 Strand Road, Portstewart
                        who died 7 April 1960
                    and his wife Mary Sweeney
                         who died 11 January 1961

The headstone is of grey stone and a bit hard to read, dont think it would show up in photos.

Hope this helps

Carol

Hi Carol,

Thanks for all your reply.  I am not sure if this is him as I don't think he was married but I will ask my cousin who knew more about him.  I did e-mail her lately but I think she is on holidays.

Thanks for all your help and I will get back to you as soon as I can.  What cemetery did you find this one in?

Thanks for all your help as always

Kieran

Hi Carol,
Thanks for all your help last year.  Do you happen to know what newspapers death notices for people from Portrush and Portstewart would be in.  I have looked in the Irish News and also the Coleraine Chronicle but found nothing so I am thinking I am looking in the wrong papers.

Thanks for all your help

Hi Carol,
I hope you are well.  Did you ever manage to get into Coleraine Library to look for death notices etc?

Thanks for all your help
