British Army discharge papers 1859
« on: Sunday 06 June 10 01:36 BST (UK) »
Can any one tell me what the following line means on my ancestors discharge papers?
"H.24716 D P Forces to Sydney 25/9/77"
My g-g-g-grandfather was in the 77th Regiment and requested and was granted a discharge on 31 Dec 1859. He was in India at the time. I know he was in Australia in 1861 and suspect he left India after March 1860.
Thankyou
Private Charles Cootes; 77th Regiment 1843 - 1860
