This is a submitted IGI entry with several errors but I wonder if Rose's maiden name was Carlin which is a good old Irish surname (it was my maiden name!!)

Hi Carole,

I think you are right; Carlin looks good.

thanks for all your help, there is stil a few ewings liven in paisley now, robert ewing who married 1912 anybody know if he served in W.W.1? ave photos of him in uniform aound that time ,thanks again

I'll have a look at medal cards, etc. With such a common name, it may be quite difficult though.

hume :)

I have already checked the Medal Card Index - too many

I have also checked what few WW1 records still exist for that name and none fits his profile

See above - Scotlands People but you have to pay

Without his service number there is no way of tracing him.  About 60% of service records were destroyed in the WW2 blitz

Hi Dave,

The death was registered as Ellen Graham Ewing nee McGarrity. She was 53.

The death index gives mum's maiden name as Fraser.

There is a marriage between John McGarrity and Elizabeth Fraser, 1916, in Paisley.
