I have just received a copy of the birth cerificate of Robert James Bamber born 10 July 1877 in Preston, Lancs.
I presume this is my great grandfather as he is the only one I could find on Lanc BMD that matched an extrapolated birth date. I have RJ's death notice (died in 1951 in Pretoria, South Africa) and it gave Preston as the place of birth and his age at death.
On the BC it gives father as Thomas Bamber ( Iron moulder) and mother as Mary formerly Hart, POB 28 Villiers Str.
From Lanc OPC I found a marriage for Thomas Bamber age 23 Moulder of 28 Villiers Str and Mary Hart age 23 Weaver of 13 St Walburg Str.
Grooms father is James Bamber (dec), Dresser and bride's father is Robert Hart, labourer.
Witnesses: Joseph Moss, Jane Bamber
Date of marriage: 24 June 1877, Emmanuel, Preston.
The marriage date seems awfully close to Robert James' birth!

This seems to be the correct family as my GG named his sons Thomas Robert James Bamber, William Henry Bamber and Albert Victor Bamber.
Is anyone doing any research on this Bamber or Hart family? Any help would be appreciated.
