Greenshields research
« on: Friday 04 June 10 07:23 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I am interested in finding the family of John Greenhill and Martha Lindsay who were married  on 29th September, 1893 at Netherhouse.

Parents of John:    George Greenshields - Check weighman
                              Mary  Greenshields (nee Galloway)

Children were:

Martha
Mary
George
Maggie
Sarah
John

Their address according to the 1901 census was 20 Bogside Row in the parish ward of North Baillieston in the district of Bargeddie, Old Monkland.
I am related through Martha Lindsay.  Her parents are my great-grandparents - their daughter Margaret was my grandmother.  Would love to hear if anyone is researching this family.

Hi All,

My mistake.  I am researching John Greenshields (and not John Greenhill as typed) and Martha Lindsay who were married on 29th September, 1893 in the district of Old Monkland.

So sorry for the inconvenience.

mary

I have a Thomas Greenshields Brown from Lanarkshire. He was the son of Charlotte Greenshields. He was in Rutherglen in the 1880's and 90's and traveled back and forth to the U.S. several times before finally settling there. Any connection with your people?

Mary - Looks like George & Mary Greenshields are buried in Baillieston (Crosshill) Churchyard.

Have a look here: (Page 13) http://www.memento-mori.co.uk/4.pdf

There are a few other Greenshields listed, but whether they're yours ........ ?
