For anyone else researching Baldoyle etc. I have been informed that the area is indeed missing from the online version of 1901. However, the original documents are in the possession of the NAI.

This note on the website helps clarify the issue:

"Missing Townlands/Streets

A number of townlands/streets do not appear in the online census for 1091 and 1911, mostly due to their never having been microfilmed, and thus never digitised. This is being remedied, and the missing material will be placed online as soon as possible. A list of the missing material will shortly appear on this page.

The records for some streets and townlands have never been in the custody of the National Archives, and these will be clealy indicated."

thanks for the update,

I have heard of a few other townlands and individual streets missing in the 1901 details on the website .. will keep an eye out on that link for news from the NAI

I've had the same problems-my family come from Maynetown, Baldoyle so I am glad to see that its just a matter of missing files. I look forward to seeing the missing files online in due course.

I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. They have no staff allocated to the task. Same situation applies to 1911 corrections.

I have an index to the 1901 census that lists Head of Household (but not all family members) lodgers, boarders, visitors etc. in Howth, Sutton, Kilbarrack & Baldoyle (that includes Maynetown). I can do a look-up if you'd like.

You can but a copy of the 1901 returns for 2.54 Euro from the NAI if (like me) you are too impatient to wait.

Hi Dara,

Many thanks. I'll buy a copy from the NAI--the family were there in 1911 (apart from those members away at school) so I'm sure they will all be listed in 1901.

Many thanks for your tips.
By the way--have you seen Michael Hurley's book on Baldoyle, published locally last year? Its full of information on the locality.

Cheers

Patrick

Yes, I have read most of Michael's books, I think I may have mentioned his last book on here. It sold out in a matter of weeks. He's doing a great job and I hope he continues for a long number of years to come.

My offer to look up the 1901 index is still open. You can send me a PM once you have 3 posts on here.

Hi Dara,

Many thanks--Michael used some family photos in his latest books--Daly's of Moyne Lodge.

Thanks for all the help.

Hi

Thank you for all the extra info on this.

I know you kind people on here, told me in a reply to one of my posts about Baldoyle being missing, ad I was a bit puzzled and decided it wasn't worth bothering them for a copy if it was on it's way, but it ooks as if it may well be worth getting a copy.

Can anyone tell me the best way to get a copy from England please?  We keep having the same problem in Ireland where many places have no online payments, and only take cheques and  postal orders from Ireland.

In the "Olden days", I just sent £2 sterling and got a copy for 1911, but I think I can't anymore.

Meantime I'll check the details.

Best wishes

Emms :)

Does anyone know the set up please?
