I have quite a few directory refs for the company from the early 1880's through to the 1930's. Seems they had at least two premises, one on Flaxengate and one at 29 Clasketgate.
Re the house clearances etc
Danes Terrace was previously known as Bull Ring Terrace (certainly mid 1880's) and judging by the maps of the time there doesn't appear to be much different building wise from the 1880's to 1905 and beyond.
The Housing Act document mentioned is one of a few at the library for different areas of the town, i had a good nose through one for the Waterside South area (with one lot down there and another in Brummits Court my lot lived in all the best places

). The one i read detailed the condition of the houses, sanitation, population levels, infant mortality and noted that two folks had died after falling down the incredibly steep stairs that had no hand rails.
