Brick wall - marriage or death info Janet (nee Ronaldson) Davidson
« on: Tuesday 01 June 10 22:44 BST (UK) »
Hi, hoping you can help with what seems impossible.  I would like to know how to find my granda's sister's  marriage in 1923 her daughter's birth in 1924 and Janet's death / resting ground in 1932-1942.  Are the US records not yet accessible?

Janet Ronaldson  born 29 Aug. 1898 at Cleator Moor, Cumberland, England emigrated from Liverpool on 25.11.1922 aboard S.S. 'Adriatic', arriving @ Ellis Island, New York, USA on 3 Dec. 1922 to visit Albert Davidson (her future husband) at Simpson, Carbondale County, PA.  In 1923, aged 24, she apparently married Albert Davidson, (can't find evidence although we have a postcard showing the City Hall Newburgh where they got the marriage license from (no dates).  In the 1930 census they lived at  9, Morrison Terrace, Cardondale, Lackawanna, Pennsylvania. (*) We have a 1926 postcard indicating Janet was living or visiting her parents at 86, Ennerdale Rd, Cleator moor, Cumberland (though can't find her on shipping lists) she was addressed by her maiden name so I wonder whether she had in fact married at this time. Janet visited England, with daughter (*), in n 1930 and returned, via Liverpool, to  New York 11 Nov.1930. I have been told Janet died (presumably in Carbondale Lackawanna as her husband resided there until his death in 1971), around 1940 perhaps of pneumonia. (*)
Please help if you can.

1936-37, 1938-39 Carbondale, Pennsylvania city directories
Davidson, Albert (Janet) laborer John Booth Inc., resides 164 S. Church

1940-41 Carbondale, Pennsylvania city directories
Davidson, Albert (Janet) laborer John Booth Inc., resides at Waymart

1942-43 Carbondale, Pennsylvania city directories
Davidson, Albert (Mildred M.) laborer John Booth Inc., home 13 Grove

Looks like Albert remarried, so the time frame for Janet's death is probably 1940-1942 like you thought.

If the birth/marriage/death occurred in Pennsylvania, there aren't any comprehensive records online.  There is information about order vital records from Pennsylvania here;  http://www.portal.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt/community/genealogy_requests/14125

Thank you so much Shelley, I had just about given up on finding anything further. The remarriage is interesting  - it hadn't even occured to me that he might have remarried but it fits in with why communications between them & my grandfather became infrequent.  I will check out the link and see if I can find anything.
Thank you again  ;D  P.S. I'll remember not to post info about people who may still be living - Sorry!
