George Lanaghan Marriage Prescot
« on: Tuesday 01 June 10 21:23 BST (UK) »
I am searching for look up information on the wedding of Gearge Lanaghan or Lanigan to Ann Flemming which took place in 1874 in the Prescot District.

What I am looking for is:

the Church they were married in, probably RC
and if there is any mention of the names of the best man and bridesmaid.

I think that both bride and groom were born in Ireland and up to now I have been mistakenly searching for the marriage in Ireland

Thanks

The marriage is on
www.lancashirebmd.org.uk
1874....it states Register Office or Registrar attended....so probably as you say a catholic Church...it is NOT on lan-opc....Prescot covered anything from Woolton ( now part of Liverpool ) to Farnworth (now part of Widnes ) to Hale Village .....so it`s a large area to cover for Catholic Churches....allan :)

Thanks Allan

I suspect the marriage was in a catholic church in St Helens.

If I visited Prescot Registrar's office and purchased a certificate, would it indicate any more than is on the BMD index?

Jim

I received a copy of George & Ann's marriage certificate today from Prescot Registery Office.

They were married in Holy Cross Church St Helens 4 October 1874 and as I suspected, Teresa who was Ann's sister and also my great grandmother, was the bridesmaid. Result!

Many thanks for all your help

Jim
