I have a Mollart link to Wolstanton near Stoke on Trent.

John Mollart born 1766 married Martha Chetwynd who was born c1770 in Wolstanton.  The evidence I have suggests they went to live in Stoke on Trent or perhaps Shelton-under-Harley.  They married 16th October 1787.

They had 22/23 children.  Some of the names were Edna, Elizabeth, Catherine, Mary-Anne, Jane, John, Esther, Robert, William, and 13 others.  DoB's range from approx 1791 to perhaps 1815.  This is a bit vague.

Their son William Mollart (c1805) married Hannah Owen and had 8 children c1834-1846, namely John, William, Frank, Edna, James, Henry, Hester (b1842) and Hannah.

Hope this helps.  I am also keen to track down more links to the Mollart name.  The Mellor name does not figure in my tree.

Martin.

Martin,
Wish I could tell you we had a connection going, but I don't know enough.   My John Mollart ( dob unknown)...was married Aug 11,1799 at New Chapel, Staff.  to Elizabeth
Mellor ( b1779).   There children were James, Sarah, Mary,
William, John, Jane, Samuel (my decendant), Simeon, and
Thomas...all born between 1801-1826 near Mow Cop, Wolstanton.

I wish I knew more about my John Mollart(Mollard) but so far have not been able to find out anymore.

Thanks
Ruth

Thank you for these Mellor's ..it is much appreciated.   I have been very confused at times because sometimes Mow Cop is found in Staffordshire info, then other times listed as
Cheshire.

Thanks again for the ones you found.

Mow Cop definitely falls in Staffs Superintendent  Registrars District of Wolstanton and Burslem . Registrars District of Tunstall Enum Dist 14.Brieryhurst also known as Brerehurst in 1841 and describes itself as the part lying north of the road from Asbury to Biddulph comprising the whole of Mow Cop.

I am still suspicious that some part of it is Cheshire  though because your Mollarts/Mollards seem to be around in 1851 and were born there and I can see no sign of them in 1841.

Thanks for the info.....as I said,it is very hard to know where these places are....especially here in the US.  It helps to know these places are in and around Biddulph..as that is where most of our family seems to have been from.

Thanks again
Ruth
