My husbands 3 x great grandparents both died in Loughborough, James diggle died 1878 and his wife Maria died 1881, but both are supposedly buried in St. Leodagarius Churchyard, I've been to the Churchyard and have only found an headstone for Ann Diggle passing in the 1790s, she is related. So at present I'm trying to trace other Diggle names to see how many are actually related to my husband. I have seen some of the replys you put to me previous which are much appreciated and they are also related. I've senn from one of your previous reply that there are about 46 Diggle names buried there. My husbands family all come from Basford. James was born there so I presume he wanted to buried back home. Was there a family burial plot. Any help you can give me Annie would be much appreciated. Many thanks Sue.

Some M.I.s for St. Leodegarius were printed by Notts. F.H.S. in Vol. 64, described in the N.I.P.R. as "Relief Cemetery".  (Source: National Index of Parish Registers, Vol. VI: North and East Midlands, Part 2: Nottinghamshire, compiled by W.T. Stott, series editor Cliff Webb, Society of Genealogists, 1988, page 29)

 Hello .... :)

Notts family History have Monumental Inscriptions for Basford but there is only the one you have already mentioned - Ann Diggle in 1779 - Basford St Leodegarius .
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/169256910/ann-diggle

There are 35 Diggle burials listed in Basford, St Leodegarius registers -  1813 to 1881 on Ancestry
they include:
James Diggle, abode Loughborough - 3rd April 1878, 71 yrs
Maria Diggle, abode Loughborough - 10th January 1881 , 73 yrs

Have you seen the Basford Cemetery Memorials which might have some of your Diggle's

42 Diggles on the St Leodagarius burial register between 1768 - 1881.

As well as James and Maria, there were 2 others whose abode was Loughborough; George, who died in 1857 age 19 and William, 33 when he died in 1865.

These registers don't give plot numbers.

How sure are you of James's age at death? It suggest a birth year of 1807; unfortunately there were 3 James Diggle baptisms - 1804 in Arnold, 1806 in Nottingham, and 1809 in Arnold again. None in Basford, although the 1806 baptism has a note that he was from Basford. Mother Sarah, father "J", a bleacher. Is this one yours?

Yes Annie this is the right one. I found the burial records for both last night. It was the proof I was looking for as there were no burial records for Loughborough for either of them. It stated they were both from Loughborough and buried a few days later in Basford. The other 2 names are 2 of their children. It's a shame there is no headstones for them but at least I've got the proof I've been looking for. Thanks again for your help and anyone that has replied x

I assumed that George and William were their children, going on these baptisms:
1833 02 24      William   James   DIGLEY   Maria      Bleacher   BASFORD St Leodegarius
1836 02 14   George   James   DIGGLE   Maria      Bleacher   BASFORD St Leodegarius

But then, to muddy the waters, I saw this burial:
1836 08 23   George   DIGGLE   7m   Basford   Basford      BASFORD St Leodegarius

I wonder if James and Maria called their next son George as well? There's this baptism a year later, with no parents' first names given:
1837 09 22      George      DIGGLE         Bleacher   BASFORD St Leodegarius
