I don't think that there is a connection between John Egan and Annie Macnamara's son Michael or any of his descendants.  But I recently attended the Egan clan Rally in Hobart, so will reach out to the members to see if any of them are connected in anyway to the Michael Egan of Emu Plains.  The next Egan Rally is to be held in Ireland in 2012, anyone with a connection to any Egan is always welcome to attend, just get in touch with Clan Egan here in Australia, regards Elizabethoz

Thank you for your offer to discuss this.

My primary query now seeks the parents of my great grandfather Michael Egan circa 1847 Ireland; He lived in Aberdeen, in the Hunter valley and was a widower; He married Jane Donohoe 1870 in Blandford, Upper Hunter; first child John, born 1871 near Scone, and other children including my grandfather Patrick, registered born 1872 at Hartley. The family then moved to Junee, where I think Michael worked on the State railways.

We know from the birth extract 1872  for Patrick junior, that Michael was his father and Jane Donohoe  his mother.  The name Patrick is referenced as the "Informant" with the description "Father" of "Emu Plains".  Is Patrick a priest (Father Patrick), otherwise why dows he use the term "Father"?

Any leads would be appreciated.

I have determined that my great grandfather, Michael arrived with his mother, the widow Bridget Egan on 20 Sep 1859 aboard the ship "Abysinnian" which docked at both Sydney and Newcastle.

I am now searching for the parents of Michael from Ireland (Broadford?). I know from the ships log that his mother was Bridget Lynch, daughter of Daniel and Hannah Lynch a widower who married Patrick Egan, recorded as deceased on the arrival of Bridget and six children in Australia
