There's a photo there of a chap called John Owen, from Bryn Cogail.
He must be related in some way ! .

It seems strange to have pictures of rural Wales on something French !
One of the contributors mentions that she is related to the Bryn Cogol/Cogail family.

Did you look at the National Archives links? One of them suggested that Ellin Owens married William Jones and remained at Bryn Cogail after her marriage until at least 1866.

Not sure what the site is but you can send an email from the site, and they have a facebook page for Llaniestyn but much on there yet.

Thank you very much indeed for your help. The site with the photos has given me a link, as , by sheer coincidence , I recognized one of the people shown, and he lives not far from me . It shows obscure French sites can help one with Welsh ancestry !

Hi. Not sure if you are still looking for info re Bryn Cogail? The Ellen Hughes on 1901 census was my grandmother. My cousin and his family now own the farm. It is situated near Llanddona on Anglesey. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your message. The lady you mention would be my grandfather's third cousin, I think. Strangely enough, my mother was wondering a week ago whether the place was still farmed by relatives. (She'd been talking to the wife of someone with connections to the neighbouring farm, and said that she'd visited the farm and found relatives in the 70s) . The original connection is that a lady called Ellen Owen went there in the late 18th century from Penisarwaen.
