Bona fida email address?

Hello - I'm seeking some advice about an email address.

Someone has contacted me about a family in my tree.  They found an old query of mine on Ancestry, and then made contact through the contact box on my website.  I'm not 100% sure about validity of the email address.  For the sake of the explanation, I'll use my handle:

boosh@inode.at

That's it!    It looks a bit odd to me. I'd like to make contact, but I'd hate to open up a can of worms, or am I being too cautious?   Any wise words gratefully received.

I just googled the possible website for the mail and it is in USA but only had small $$value
another google with spam added seems to have a connection with the site

Have you tried just sending them an email to see if its genuine rather than opening your tree?

I felt the same when contacted by someone in Australia using the following ISP: Internode.on.net     It sounded so strange to me, but turned out to be fine, with the bonus of lots of helpful information.

Well, I'm going to bite the bullet and give it a go.  I'd hate to think I might be missing out on something!

If uncertain you could consider setting up a temporary email address with say hotmail or google mail - If the contact is sound you can then provide your more normal address and if there are any problems simply ditch the temporary email address.
