Searching any information on Anthony Wilson born 1805,Leinster  Province and Sarah Thornton born 1811 - married1831

Since the births and marriage are well before civil registration started in Ireland (1864), parish records (if they exist) will be required to locate details on Anthony and Sarah. To start this you will need to establish their religion and a more detailed location for them i.e. parish, town or townland.

Thank you Shane - the only other information that I have,mentions Ossary - I do not know for sure, their religious affiliation,but imagine it was not Roman Catholic

Perhaps with more information we might be able to help. Did Anthony and Sarah stay in Ireland? if so, might find them in death registrations (from 1864 onwards), etc.

Ossary is a diocese and consists of quite a number of parishes, so doesnt really narrow the location down much.

There is a town named Borris-in-Ossory in Co. Laois (frmly Queens county)...

what's the source of the Ossary clue ?

Thank you both - the "Ossary " connection came via a fellow researcher - my own attempts at further research have made me aware that Ossary is a diocese but I can't narrow it down any further to a parish - they and their children,Joseph,Ann,Anthony,Kerzia,Eliza and Isabella all born in Ireland apparently emigrated to Liverpool in the 1850's,as they first appear in the 1861 census

It's worth checking later census returns for Anthony, Sarah and the children born in Ireland to see if they give a more detailed place of birth.

Did any of the children born in Ireland live in England at the time of the 1911 census? You should really follow the whole family through all the census records but the 1911 census seems to be particularly good at mentioning a more exact birthplace (no guarantees of course but certainly worth a try). We aren't allowed to ask for 1911 census lookups here due to terms and conditions but there's a thread for search hints here-
