Robert Waller
« on: Thursday 27 May 10 21:38 BST (UK) »
Hi
I'm trying to discover the parents of one Robert Waller, who was born in Guisborough in June 1784. He married a Mary Thompson, and one of their children was also called Robert. Robert Waller was my great, great, great grandad. I've spent hours searching on ancestry.co.uk, but don't seem to be able to get any further back than him.
Any help out there please?
If anyone knows anything about Mary Thompson's parents as well, I'd be very grateful. She was born around 1801 in North Yorkshire somewhere.
Thanks!
Chrissie

How could you arrive at a birth month & year and still not know the parents?

What record(s) did you find?  Pauline

Hi
Sorry, I think I pressed the send button by mistake! I'll start again.
The son of Robert - also called Robert and my great, great grandad - wrote out a very detailed family tree inside a book at some point in his later life. My cousin currently owns the book. Unfortunately, although the tree is very detailed with all who came after him, it goes no further back than his parents.

Gosh! Thank you so much! I knew that the Church of Latter Day Saints had done tons of research work around the world, but I actually had no idea that that web site existed. (I'm relatively new to all this, I only started last November.)
Thanks again
