Hello Julie

These families take some finding on the census returns, but I might have found an opening or two!.

Would you post the year of birth of Ann Maria Speake. I know it says she was 30 when she died in 1869 but I suspect she was a little younger.

With some new information I've found, I know that the death I gave you for Thomas Speake is wrong, I did have my doubts when I saw it was Shropshire, but even more so when you showed that his wife on the death certificate was Frances.

Can you help with the GRO reference for a deat cert for Thomas Speake I have found the following details which doesnt include the GRO reference.

Thomas Speake, Staffordshire, Wolverhampton, St Peters

Register number 90432

burial date 1 Oct 1847

Age 41

Abode Horsley Fields
File number 6599

I dont believe that these details provide the GRO reference for me to obtain birth cert, maybe wrong?

Hello Julie.

You beat me to it!.

Thomas Speak death. Dec qtr. 1847. Wolverhampton. Ref 17 284.
Sarah's birth. Sep qtr. 1843. Wolverhampton. Ref 17 313 (there is also one with ref. 17 315- the transcriber probably couldn't read the number).

Also found:

1841 census
Willenhall Road, Wolverhampton.

Thomas Speak. age 35. Iron Miner.
Hannah (wife). age 30.
Thomas (son). age 1.
Abraham Wise. age 50. Labourer.
Matilda Wise. age 40.

Found Thomas Speak birth. Dec qtr. 1839. Wolverhampton. Ref 17 343.

Also found these which may be relevant:
Harriet Sep qtr. 1847. Wolverhampton. Ref 17 344.
Edmund Sep qtr. 1848. Wolverhampton. Ref 17 400.

Have had no luck tracing William and Sara Lycett before 1891, so am wondering whether William had another name, although did find a William in 1841 age 6.
Mother Hannah, age 30 and sister Elizabeth, age 1, living in Wolstanton.

Will keep persevering, they're out there somewhere.
