Amos Ashong of Bridgend, Wales.

Amos Ashong was born about 1892 in Cape Coast Castle, Ghana. He was a tall, dark skinned gentleman.
He came to live in England & married & settled in Bridgend, Wales where he & his wife had a family of five children.
Amos Ashong was well known in the Bridgend area where he was a herbalist.
I would love to hear from anyone who has any tales or memories about Amos & I would especially like to see a photo of him if at all possible please.
I would welcome any information in order to widen my family tree knowledge.

He married Ruth Clarke in 1920 in Norfolk - do you already have his marriage cert showing his fathers name?

Their first child was born in Norfolk and subsequent children in Glamorgan

Amos died in 1952 aged 60

Great find - looks as though Treefan has an ancestor possibly not known about previously

Good timing Jen  ~  I've been away for a mini break & have just looked at the computer for the first time since my return to discover all of this great info.
It's wonderful to have discovered such help & I will certainly look into it all further.

amos ashong was my grandfather i never met him he died the year i was born!My dad was George Edward Ashong he was born 1911 and died 2000 amos was a herbalist and also a music hall artist and a bit of a ladies man!! if anybody has a photo of amos it would be great so i can build a bit more of my family history which to say the leased is a can of worms

Hello

Did you know that Amos appeared in a play called "Joseph and his brethren" by Alfred Denville's Company, by arrangement with Sir Herbert Tree, at the Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh, from 9th to 14th November 1914?
