« on: Monday 24 May 10 07:55 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find information about my late grandfathers first wife.
her maiden name was Mary Ann kietly, she was born I believe about 1887 her father was John Kietly.
She married my grandfather James William Tanser  in April 1908,and died during child  birth in 1912.
she had two living children to my grandfather, Harriet Tanser born about 1910 and John Thomas Tanser born about 1900.
I can't find the her on any of the census's or her father.
can anyone help

Thankyou
Dampier ::)

Have you checked the 1911 census to see where she was born?  We can't do look ups but the index is free to search.
1911 census tips http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,355239.0.html
What was her father's occupation on the marriage certificate?
If they married in Sculcoates in 1908 perhaps the dob you give for John is wrong?
Regards
Andrea
PS checked freebmd and the children are John Thomas b 1908 and Harriet b 1910

All members of the family including Mary Ann Kietly 1888 were born Kingston upon Hull.
I am not having any luck finding her even just using K*tly without anything else at all.

I see that the marriage and the child in 1912 say Kielty.   May make a difference if that is correct.

1891 census RG12/3923/36/24 has a Mary Ann Keilty age 3 with parents Annie and THOMAS born Hull but she is the only one with the correct birth year and place. I wonder if her father used John and Thomas. There are a couple of brother one named John.
I don't have time to follow this family through the census at the moment.

1901 census RG13/4489/115/4
Sculcoates St Philips Kingston Upon Hull4 Providence Place
Thomas Keilty 39 Dock Labourer born Ireland
Annie 38 born Howden Yorkshire
Mary A 13 born Hull
Margaret A 8 born Hull

Well this is the family again but I have no idea if it is yours.  I have looked for the two possible deaths of the  boys John 2 and Thomas 7 months who were on the 1891 census but can't find them.
