Although John Vowles lists his place of birth as Rowberrow on Census reports, Merchant Navy records list his place of birth as Pill, Somerset, and date of birth 27.VIII.1801, but I have been unable to trace any other support of his birth or parentage. I am tracking his 1846 daughter, Eliza, daughter of Sarah A. Stevens (Stephens), who claims to have been born in Shipham, but records show Rowberrow. Any photos or other information would be appreciated. Eliza apparently never married, but had children by Alfred Baker, Huish Episcopi Blacksmith, and Charles Dunn, Langport White Lion publican and Wearne Tailor.
