Criminal records 1916-1923
« on: Saturday 22 May 10 16:45 BST (UK) »
My great grandmother, Kathleen "Kitty" Fitzgerald, was arrested at some point between 1916 and 1923 for raising funds for the IRA. Does anyone know where I could find the criminal records for that time period. Unfortuntely, all I know is that her first name was Kathleen and her friends called her Kitty, and that she was arrested for aforesaid reasons. I don't know what her maiden name was and my dad is hopelless with anything like that; he can't remember his own grandfather's name! ???

You would have to give a little more info such as date of birth,

I think to start with, if this was supposed to have happened before she was married, that you will need to find her maiden name- marriage certificate or children's birth certificates will give you that.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

On the subject of criminal records in Ireland, can anyone direct me to the records for the Queenstown/Cobh assizes and quarter sessions c1876-1879?

Regards
Ann

That's the problem, I'm not sure when she married my gt grandfather.

maybe your first step would be to research your family by checking census returns/births/marriages to work your way back to both gt-grandparents to work out dates, names, locations etc

All the sights I've been on don't give too much in the way of names of people other than who you looked up. Anyone have any sites they can reccomend?
