HP Director
« on: Saturday 22 May 10 15:17 BST (UK) »
Recently I had my hard drive wiped and Windows XP3 restored.  I find that I am now on IE8 instead of 7 as previously.  Could this be responsible for the fact that I can no longer use the HP Director which will  not open.
I use an HPpsc 1355 all- in-one printer, scanner and copier.
Any help would be appreciated

You can go back to IE 7. Just go into add remove programs and remove IE8 your P C will auto revert to the previous version of IE. If it’s not that you can always download the latest version again.   Not sure what windows version you have. The instructions are for XP.

I found this.

The MS IE 7 or 8 browsers might be incompatible with HP Director.

So it looks as if it’s a compatibility issue.
Please scan photos at 300dpi or higher. Thank you.

Thank you. both, for your replies.  I did look for information after posting on RootsChat and found the same as Christine which confirmed what you had found, Old Hippy.  It is strange that the HP Director worked with IE7 but not with IE8. Maybe I should try IE7 again.

I have Windows XP3

I would think by now HP would have got its act together and bought out an updated version of HP Director. IE 8 has been out for quite sometime now.  Unfortunately, HP and other makers are usually in the dark as much as consumers when MS make changes to any of their software then its a mad scrabble by their software support guys to find the offending file version update! Believe me it causes them a huge headache, thankfully when they find a solution, its posted within days on their website...

Rather than roll back to IE7, I would first suggest you look at the HP product support pages and see if there is a later version of the director under your psc1355
Please acknowledge when a restorer works on your photos, it can take hours for them to work their magic

Please scan at 300dpi minimum to help save the restorers eyesight.

My HP director runs OK on IE8 but then I run W7 but check as suggested for an update.

This reply is late but thank you, both, for your replies.  I have not looked at the HP Pages yet but hope there will be some kind of positive information especially as the printer copies and prints as before.
