Hi everyone,
I was wondering if some one with more genealogy expertise than I do could help me out with this one.
I'm researching my mothers side. The Turners and have traced them back to Hulme, Manchester to an Ellen Turner (maiden name not known)
She was born in 1838 in Manchester. She worked as a seamstress/dressmaker. I have found her in the 1971,1881 and 1891 censuses.
1871- 12 Phillips St, Hulme. Occ: Seamstress (Married)
1881 - 8 Back Allin St, Chorlton-upon-medlock. Occ: Dressmaker (Married)
1891 - 58 Newcastle St, Hulme Occ: Dressmaker (Widowed)
In 1871 and 1881, Her husband was not listed, but she is still listed as married and by 1891 she is widowed.
Her first child was Ada in 1862 so I assume she was married to ____ Turner around that time.
She had 7 children between 1862 and 1877.
Ada Louise(1862), Kate (1864), William (1867) , Elizabeth (1869), Nellie (1873), Joseph McLean (1873), Matthew Henry (1877)
And that is all I know.
Is there anyone who could work out who she married through this information? or where she was in 1841/1851/1861. I've found multiple listings for Ellen Turners but nothing concrete to go on.
Any pointers or help would be appreciated.
Thank you
Alana
