Hi John my interest is Margaret Crab DOB 1757 Fordoun, Scotland m. Alexander Tevendale 1778. They had 11 children that I have found & one, Mary Ann Tevendale, was my GG Grandmother. Margeret Crab had at least 4 siblings of which one, William, was her twin. She also had two half siblings. John Crab, her father was married twice & I have all those details if you would like them. John's DOB 12/4/1726 death 6/9/1809. John's father was Robert Crab & grandfather James Crab. I am trying to find Robert's DOB & date of marriage & to whom. I think it may be to Margaret Carneggie in 1720 but have not proved this link yet. Perhaps you could help?

Hello John,

I have John Cole Crabb,b.1826 m.  Bridport 24th May 1854 to Amelia Ackerman.One child Amelia Cole Crabb b.Bridport 1855.

he is described as an Artilleryman , no date of death,, but on the 1861 Census Amelia is Widowed and she is living with her mother.

I found his details (1021058) on the Crabb Family Rootsweb Page.

Amelia was my great(x2) great aunt. There seems to be only one further reference to Amelia Cole Crabb ,Visiting  Her Ackerman uncle in 1881. Aged 25 she was unmarried.

I have:

Benjamin Crabb   c1816  father   a Wool Comber
Caroline Crabb    c1816  mother
Eliza Crabb 1841 North Tawton (my gt-grandmother)
  m. Hugo Francis Hawkins (aka Francis).
    dau Kate Hawkins m. Charles Fletcher (my g-parents)

Also, Catherine Crabb (a wool comber's wife) and Lucy Scantlebury Crabb related.

I would love to find more of these Crabb family. I do not think they are directly related to the Loders, Dorset crowd.

I have evidence that they are related to the Linkinhorne, Cornwall,  Crabb family.

Benjamin and Caroline disappear after the 1841 census. In 1851 Eliza is living with John Scantlebury, Catherine Crabb and Lucy. From this I infer that Catherine Scantlebury married a Mr Crabb (passing her maiden surname to her daughter Lucy). I have yet to find this Crabb, but would suggest he was the brother of Benjamin.

Any help would be just great!

I have John Crab who married Isobel Hampton 17/3/1753 at Fordoun, Kincardine, Scotland.
They had 6 children - Margaret Crab (my gggg gandmother) born 3/8/1757 married Alexander Tevendale 12/12/1778 at Fordoun.

My grandmother's maiden name was Mary Jane Crabb born 10th May 1900 in Matching Green, Essex.
 Her father was Samuel John Crabb born 26th Oct 1865 in Matching, Essex he married Mary Ann Perrin born 5th Feb 1870 in Matching, Essex.
His father was Samuel John Crabb born 1811 in Falmouth Cornwall, his first wife was Elizabeth Bass, his second wife was Susan Little born 1831 in Abbotts Roding, Essex, his father was George Crabb no other details.

There is a Gladys CRABB buried at St Paul's Church, Bisterne, Hampshire.  She died on 7 March 1952 aged 42.  I have a photograph of her headstone if anyone is interested.

Hi I am a 'Crabb' myself and have a copy of our family tree. It only goes back to William Crabb born 1780 who married Margaret Brodie but thought it interesting that he was known as 'William Crabb of Laurencekirk Kincardine. Might be of use to you

As this topic appears to just lurching along I thought I might contact the author but without success and his/her website has not been updated since 2010.
So I don't know what should be done from here.
