1861 Census Address look up please - St Giles in the Fields O'CONNOR
« on: Wednesday 19 May 10 14:49 BST (UK) »
Hello

Would appreciate a 1861 Census address look-up please  :

18 Little Wild Street, St Giles in the Fields.

Looking for  : Thomas O'CONNOR born 1853 at that address.
His parents Thomas a French Polisher and Mary nee BRIEN.
Information from Birth Certificate.
Parents not at that address on 1851 Census.

I have tried every variation etc and cannot find a Thomas that fits on 1861 Census.
Long shot but maybe they were still there in 1861 and been mis-transcribed?

No sign in 1871 either.  Thomas was Overseas in the Army from about 1879 onwards.

Looking for a friend and appreciate any help, Thank You.

Hi Reyz

Afraid they are not at 18 Little Wild Street in 1861.   Any idea where and when his parents were born?

Hi Rosie

No idea of when the parents were born.
My Friend was told many years ago, their O'Connors were Irish but no idea of how many generations
back.

Many thanks for looking

I came across your request, and you may have possibly found who you are looking for, but if not I might have found your Thomas O'Connor on the 1861 census.  A Thomas Conner, born 1825, is registered as a French Polisher in the registration district of the Strand, London.  I don't have access to actually look at the census form, so I don't know the other members of his household, but a Thomas was born 1853 appears on the census in the same district.

Hope this is of interest.

Hi Mary H

I had found the 1851 O'Connor and wondered but no way of knowing, yet.
But its good you thought it was a possible also, all helps.

I have him for definite in 1911, a Porter in Inner Temple in London.

Thank you for trying to help  :)

The family are not at 18 Little Wild Street in 1861  RG9/169 f98 p72 as per my earlier reply.  Presumably you still have not found the family
