parish for Canterbury barracks 1805-1810
« on: Monday 17 May 10 02:42 BST (UK) »
Hello.

I am searching for a marriage ~1805-1810 for a soldier stationed at Canterbury barracks.  His unit was 2Batt, 9th Regiment of Foot.

What would be the logical parish/es for this marriage?

The dates are based on an Oct 1813 settlement request by his wife for herself and daughter b~1809-1810 (location unknown), and son b 1812 in Gibraltar.  She requested settlement in her husband's parish of Banwell, Somerset.

The names are James Horl* and Sarah (last name unknown)
* known spelling variants: Harl, Harle, Horl, Horle, Hurl, Hurle

Many thanks for your help and guidance.

May not help, but my ancestor in the 9th Foot married at St Mildred's, Canterbury in 1818, so that's worth a try
Interests include:
LANSDELL in Kent & Sussex; WELLER in Kent; SELMAN/SOLOMON in Yorkshire and Staffordshire; BROYD in Essex/Cambridgeshire; KETTERIDGE in Essex/Cambridgeshire

Thank you!

I'll start searching there first.
