Would anyone know of a site that lists past members of the Northumberland Fusiliers.

 BUZZ,

If you mean ALL who have been in the Northumberland Fusiliers, then I think the answer is no.

I have means (books)of seeing all those who enlisted for 1914-1918 war in the Northumberland Fusiliers battalions that were known as the Tyneside Scottish and Tyneside Irish.

The regiment was raised in 1674 and after various names and formations became the Northumberland Fusiliers in 1881, then the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers in 1935, then in 1968 amalgamated into the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.

Which bit are you after ?

The person that I'm trying to find if he was in the Fusiliers (which has come down through the family) was a Henry Brewis he was born in Newcastle in 1858.

In the the 1871 census he is aged 12 living with his Grandparents Robert and Mary Gray.

He marries in1882 and is on the 1891 and 1901 census with his wife Dorothy occupation Coal Miner.

So the period I'm looking at is mid 1870's into the 1880's.

Hi Buzz. I've been researching my ancestor, John Kennedy, who joined the 59th Foot in 1865 at the age of 15 and was transferred to the Nothumberland Fusiliers in 1877 whilst in India. I found his military records on Ancestry.co.uk and they give quite a lot of information. Have you tried his name on the Ancestry search? The 5th (Northumberland Fusiliers) were in the Second Afghan War 1878 to 1880 and there's an excellent website full of details about regiments involved here

I even managed to find the names of the ships he sailed on to get there 8)

I would be interested to learn more about these books. I have the Sheen books for the Tyneside Irish but even John says they are not complete. Are there actually books with complete lists for the Great War?

When the 2nd release was completed for the 24th - 27th NF I was pleased to see my grandfather "George 1897" was added (photo on page 216).
