George Peacock Maria Sage m 1870

After any help anyone can give on George Peacock b Jun 1849 Bristol, son of William Peacock and married to Maria Sage b Sept 1845 Hanham. I can find George's siblings, but not his mother other than her name is Sarah and she was born in 1811, and nothing on Maria Sage.

Can you post a census reference for the family? I can't find a matching George married to a Maria.

The George married to Maria that I see (children Louisa, Annie F, Ada M, Beatrice) seems to give his birth place as Hanham in 1871, 1881 and 1901. Maria says Hanham in 1891 but Bitton/Clutton Somerset in 1881 and 1871.

Am I looking at the wrong family?

Other than that: Do you have the marriage cert? What does it say about their fathers?

Have a look at 1851 census entry - mother is Sarah b 1810.  As you know the names of George's siblings - you will know if it is the right entry

The 1870 marriage was in Clutton and there is a Maria Sage b Clutton 1840 on the 1861 census

I know you have her birthyear as 1845 but she was already 4yrs older than George so perhaps she knocked a few more years off

I note that there's a G. P. birth registered in Clifton in June 1849 so assume that is the George you speak of.

Do you have his birth cert for that is the one way to be reasonably sure of his parentage?

Assuming you have the b-cert., have you searched Freebmd for the marriage of George's parents - there's certainly a lot of Peacock marriages between 1840 and 1849 in GLS, so have you considered all of them?

That 1891 entry shows everybody b Hanham Gloucs.  George b 1847 and Marie (Maria) 1845

1871 shows George b Hanham 1844 and Maria b 1844

1881 indexed as Pencold - George b 1845 Hanham  Maria 1844 Clutton Somerset
