Hi Anthea

My ancestors weren't Hunston locals. They moved there all the way from Elmswell. My Gt Gt Grandparents (James & Harriet) moved there with their family in the early 1890's. They were farm labourers and in 1901 were living at Hall Farm. They'd moved on (all the way to Gt Ashfield) by 1911.

My Gt Grandparents (Thomas & Sarah) lived there for a while after marriage in 1895 (their first 2 children were born there) but by 1901 had moved to Ipswich and a little later to Newmarket where they remained.

I have visited the village along with many others locally where my ancestors lived. I was actually bought up in Bury, and my parents live there, so was fairly local myself.

I've noticed many Buckles in Hunston when I I've been researching but am not aware of any link but I'm sure there is at some time, mine lived in Badwell Ash at one stage. I've been in touch with a Carl Buckle who lives locally and is researching Buckles in that area, he may be of more help if you're not already in touch.

My website has my trees, etc.

Hi Colin
Thanks for your reply. It's interesting to read  - Hall Farm is just round the corner from us, a lovely old house.
I will have to try and get in touch with Carl Buckle maybe.
Thanks
Anthea

Anthea

I suspect they weren't living at the lovely old house but perhaps some shack in the grounds  :)

I thought Carl was a member on here but I can't find him, I think he lives somewhere like Thurston. If you can't find him get back to me I may still have his email.

Interesting when Colin says that he was brought up in Bury - I presume he means Bury Saint Edmunds  rather than the real BURY in Lancashire
Wilson/Thornton -Ireland early 1800s
Moorcroft - Scarisbrick,Lancs.
Scarff - Suffolk/Hants/Liverpool
Worrall - Cheshire/Liverpool

Of course, too much of a mouthful when you live there!
