Skeldon Perth

Hi I am searching for my great grandfather George Skeldon born 1846 in Perth. He married Rosina Skinglsey in Marlebone London in December 1870, anyone any ideas, why would he move to London, how do I find records in Scotland? Any help or advise welcome!!!

Hi

She was Rosina Skinley on the marriage cert - father Arthur occ private in the Royal Buffs

George was a gamekeeper - father John also a gamekeeper

They married 26.12.1870 and both were over 21yrs

Witnesses were W Gessey & H Hillier

The 1871/1881 shows him born 1844 and the 1901 shows 1845

George Skeldon born 1846 in Perth

The 1911 index shows 1844 and his birthplace was not Perth.  Have you checked the 1911 entry for his birthplace?

He died in 1925 aged 87 which makes his birthyear 1847/48 - however - info on a death cert is only as good as the knowledge of the person who reported the death so I would tend to go with the birthyear given by him on the census records

Thanks, is there any info on what town/village George was born in? I have tracked quite a lot on Rosinas side but have reached a brick wall with George so grateful for any help on his side. Do you think it possible he went to London for work as a gamekeeper he lived by Windsor, never know he perhaps worked at Windsor park!!!! lol

1911 census gives place of birth as Edinburgh

If George was actually born in Perth......then Google "Perth Scotland" and you will find lots of information.

I can't find any record for George born either Perth or Edinburgh .......but as births did not have to be registered in Scotland before 1855 this does not mean much
