Uniform Identification please
« on: Wednesday 12 May 10 14:04 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

Attached photo is of three brothers from Radway in Warwickshire probably taken about 1918.
They all seem to be in different regiments which I find a bit strange!
Any help would be much appreciated.

Barry
Dunwoody(ie) originating in Belfast/Dunbartonshire; Wood (Norwich/London); Brook(e)s (Northants/Oxon); Taylor (Northants); Gardner (Northants); Sears (Northants); Mountford (Northants); Judd (Warwicks); Norcliffe (Yorks); Matthews (Lincs/Derbys/Yorks)

What are the names of these 3 brothers?
Let's start with the one standing in the middle, he appears to be in Australian uniform. Can just about make out the "sunburst" AIF collar badges if I'm not mistaken.
Name interests: Boulton, Murrell, Lock, Croxton, Skinner, Blewett, Tonkin, Trathen.

Just further to Adys' reply, the record is available online for viewing and is 62 pages long.
And if this is the correct John , this is the Battalion information.

Thanks Ady, Neil and Leanne.
They are the Gibbins brothers all born in Radway. Philip b. 1896 on the left, John aka Jack b. 1890 in the middle and Maurice b. 1898 on the right. We think the photo was taken outside their house in Radway.
Leanne where do I find his record please? I have love tokens from Jack to my gran in about 1907 but she found someone else, so maybe he went off to Australia with a broken heart!

Barry...Maurice looks like he was Royal West Kents...theres a medal index card for him(theres only one to that name) and im sure the cap badge looks like a horse which is how it should for that Regiment.

I think ive found your Phillip...Its possibly this record above and he didnt go overseas...Youve got to go through it but im sure Radway is mentioned later on.

He was Guards Machine Gun Regiment (ex Grenadiers)...Discharged due to ill health in 1918 a gardener aged 22 on discharge (Dec 1895 approx DOB)

If this is of any help, I had three gt-uncles (brothers) in WW1, one was in South Staffs, RAMC, another was in Royal Fusiliers, the third in Royal Field Artillery.
