Isabella Glen, Providence, RI
« on: Tuesday 11 May 10 15:15 BST (UK) »
Looking for info. about Isabella Glen, born Scotland 1886, arr. Boston 29 Sept 1909 with sister Mary Neave aboard the Parisian, for Pawtucket, RI.

For 1910 census living with brother in law Robert Neave/sister Mary Neave in Lincoln, Providence, RI. Family worked in textile mills.

May have married Donald Morrison, born Scotland 1874, entered US from Canada about 1910. (Possible that Bella and Donald knew each other in Glasgow where they both previously lived.)

Bella and Donald (married) immigrated to Canada from Montana 1917. Not sure if this is the same Bella Glen.

Any suggestions of where to go for more info would be gratefully received.

There is a Mrs. Donald Morrison age 31 born Scotland and son Glenn age 5 born USA crossing the border from Gordon, Montana to Coutts, Alberta in June 1917.  It says she is traveling to her husband.  Could this be your Isabella Glen?

Thanks Detorri28 for linking my two separate queries. Yes, Merjones, you have located my Bella's and Glen's entry to Canada.

My problem is that I can't positively identify the Bella Glen who was Glen's mother and Donald's wife in Montana/Alberta as the same person as the one who previously lived in Rhode Island. I have sent an inquiry to the Cascade County Genealogical Society (Great Falls, MT) and they have said they will get back to me with thir findings in a few days. If I can get Donald's and Bella's marriage cert., her parents' names will tell me the answer, as I have Rhode Island Bella's Scottish birth cert. with this information. The mystery continues!

Thanks to you both for your interest in this matter.

Hello Chalfont.

Apologises I should have updated you on this thread a few days ago.  I checked the Rhode Island marriages which I found available covering 1636 - 1930 but I found no record of the marriage of Isabella Glen and Donald Morrison.  I hope you have better luck with your contact.

Regards.

Hi dettori28:

Thanks for this info. It wasn't what I wanted to hear of course but a definitive answer is better than not knowing if it's a possibility.

I'll keep working with my MT and Alberta contacts to see what I can find there. I'll let you know how things work out. Thanks for your help and interest.

My name is Jeanie Morrison. My grandfather was Donald Morrison and my grandmother was Isabella Glen. I do have the border crossing information when they entered Canada with their first son Glen Morrison. Daniel Morrison, another son was born in 1918, and my dad, Allan Glen Morrison was born in 1922. At one time, I looked through the marriage records in Scotland, but my dad stated that his parents were not married in Scotland, but in Providence, Rhode Island. I have yet to find any marriage records.

hope this helps, I would love to find more information as well.

Hi Jeannie,

My name is Colin Bain. Donald Morrison was my paternal grandmother's brother. (Mary married Roderick Bain.) I'm trying to attach a summary of my findings about Isabella, which I hope you might find helpful. It's so long since I have used Roots Chat that I forget where the attachment button is! Can you help me to find it?

I'd be interested in exchanging information on the Morrisons.
