Hi & welcome to Rootschat

My 7 x gt grandfather was Bartholomew Lee born in Pinxton in 1633. His father was also Bartholomew.  I have never found any evidence that he married an Isabel but I haven't done any research on this line for years.  The baptism entries just give fathers name. My line runs from Francis baptised in 1659.

Pinxton PR's are available to buy on CD if you didn't already know.

Hi,

I'm also descended from the Lee family - Bartholomew (b. 1634/5) is my 10xgreat grandfather. He was indeed married to an Isabel and they had (at least) 2 children, Isabel and Francis.

You say that Bartholomew was born about 3 March 1633 - where did you get that date from? It's a long time since I looked at this branch of my family, but my notes suggest that "Bartholomew Lee & Millisant Lee, Twynes Bartholomew Lee" were baptised 12 March 1634/5.

Hi Nic

I'm very interesting in the marriage information that he married Isabel.

Who was she, do you know?  When & Where did they marry?

Carol,

Apologies, but I may have unintentionally misled you here. My earlier post was based on notes I made about 15 years ago (essentially my transcription of the Pinxton parish registers relating to "Lee"). I have notes of the baptisms of Isabel Lee (7 March 1656/7), d. Bartholomew Lee and Francis Lee (20 August 1659), s. Bartholomew Lee. At the side of the latter I've written "pos. Francis Lee, s of Bartholomew Lee & Isobel, b Pinxton 6 Aug 1659". Unfortunately, this was not long after I first started researching my family tree, and my note-taking wasn't as thorough as it is now, so I don't know for sure where that info came  from.

I think, though, that this note might have been my subsequent search on the IGI fiche for Derbyshire, because on checking I've just found the same info on Family Search. That's member submitted information, and so I've no idea how accurate it is or where it came from (given that the parish registers only give baptism dates at that time the submitter might have just assumed a two-week period between birth and baptism, but where "Isobel" comes from, I don't know). My notes don't have an actual marriage for Batholomew the elder.

(Isobel Lee the younger didn't live very long, as "Isabel Lee d Bartholomew Lee" was buried on 13 March 1658/9).

Sorry about this - a good reminder to check my info before posting.
