I believe my gr gr grandfather is buried at St Gwynno. William Roberts born 1837 or 1838 and possibly died or buried 11 October 1894.
Can anyone help me find out if this is correct?

The last time I was in Llanwonno, around 1995, I could not find the headstone of my grandparents, it was so over grown. Therefore, I would be surprised if that has changed at all, but there again, not only may I be wrong, but I could contact some-one who may have more recent knowledge, if that is of help. I am originally from the mining villlage of Blaenllechau, which is just a couple of miles from the Church, and spent many hours there during my childhood.

hi Brian
and thank you for your reply!
When I was in Wales in 07 I did go to the cemetery to see the grave of the famous runner and yes the  grave yard was pretty overgrown.
Do you by chance know of how I can find the Church records to see if this is the one I am looking for. There are so many William roberts during this time frame at FREEBMD there is no way I can send for all of them :>)
This is the most possible for me with the age and area and death time frame.
I don't even know if there is a headstone but if there is I am hoping for a birth date.

Teddy, I went to Ferndale in June of this year for the first time for over 10 years, and even though there are people now compiling as much history of the area as possible, I am not sure whether they have the facility to answer questions from the wider public like this. Having said that, I shall email one of my contacts and find out how we can obtain any information like this. Please bear with me, as the person concerned is involved in a lot of other things as well.
