Welcome to Rootschat. I've merged your 2 posts so anyone that can help with your queries will be able to post all the information in one place. Perhaps if you can give us an idea of dates we'll be able to suggest sources to check.

What i have been able to find out about the doody family so far is as follows.

patrick doody born 24 jan 1908 in athy died 28 May 1968 in athy and buried with kathleen

his father was a michael doody cant find his birth or his marriage to lizzie but died 22 jul 1947 age 80 years old
his mother was elizabeth doody (nee neill) cant find her birth or marriage to michael but died 25 oct 1951 age 69

both michael and lizzie show agnes walsh (nee doody) patrick doody sister as witness to death on death cert and place of death as athy possibly a st joseph terrace ?

patrick doody married kathleen tallon/fallon in athy on 11 oct 1936

not sure which as marriagecert is hard to make out if its a t or an f

only info i have on kathleen is her father was james tallon/fallon born possibly 17 nov 1918 and she died in athy in 19 oct 2005 and is buried there

kathleen and patrick had 13 children and michael and lizzie had 14 but olnly 6 survived

what i have been told michael doody was from moone county kildare as that was on 1901 census but this might be incorrect and possibly born around 1867

some of the children of michael and lizzie from what i have been told were as follows: joseph, lizzie, michael, william, james christopher, william as one of them died, another lizzie due to one dying, patrick and agnes plus three more in not aware off

patrick and kathleen children are as follows all children born in athy between 1936 and 1957: anges p, dominic, james christopher, patrick j, michael j, margaret j, william, katherine e, christina m, mary e, teresa p, gerard a, josephine

sorry for long message hope this clears things up abit as to what i know and dont know about the doody family in athy

You' ve lots of information to start with but just remember not to post details of living, or possibly living, people.

To start with I've found Michael and family in 1911 census- surname listed as Doudy but found them by searching for 'patrick do*dy' age '3' in Co. Kildare. It is clearly written as Doudy on the actual image but since Michael is listed as 'cannot read' he didn't fill out the form himself and may not have known how to spell his surname.

Parents married 10 years (so c1901) and had 10 children but only 3 living so there might be lots more children that you haven't heard about.
Michael was age 40 (so born c1870- birth should be under civil registrations which is good), etc.
Next step would probably be to find Michael and Elizabeth's marriage to get their fathers' names if you want to work back.

Hi There re the post below that you made on the "Need help in Athy " pages, I had a query from a lady in Australia recently about this same family she and her brother in Northern Ireland are searcing the tree also, and I have passed on your message to her brother , I feel you are of the same branch as you also have the Moone connection. I have been helping them offline here so you wont find any posts on graves etc but they are all here in St Michaels cemetry and I have access to the registers for burials from 1900 so if I can help in that way when you have made the connection let me know, hope this helps and good luck with the search, regards Damsel

"do you by any chance know st michaels old and new cemetery located on the dublin road in athy town?

i have relatives buried there and am having trouble finding more info out about them.

in the old cemetry there is a patrick born 24 jan 1908-died 28 May 1968 and a kathleen doody born 17 nov 1918-died 19 oct 2005 (nee tallon or fallon not sure which)

and in the new cemetry there is an agnes walsh (nee doody) born 4 sep 1909 and michael walsh i think who is patrick doodys sister

patrick was born and died in athy and i am trying to trace his parents or at least his father who i am told could of been from moone county kildare "

I can remember a Doody family living in Athy, one of the daughters is still living in Athy, married with children.  She would be in her 50's.

I know her married mane, and her address, but as previous poster (mod) specified, I cannot give out her personal details here.

If you pm me, maybe I can help

Hi i am researching the doody and Tallon familes in Athy/Tullow. In particular i would like help with a certain michael doody's parents. Michael and Lizzie doody were the parents of Patrick Joseph Doody died 1947 who married a kathleen tallon buried in Athy formerly from Tullow.

I have Michael and Lizzie (possibly nee Neil from Wexford) living in Athy in 1901. Michael was 28 at the time of this census.

My father in law* is Michaels grandson and grew up in Athy, son of Patrick and Kathleen.

Any help much appreciated.

Could a certain John and Bridget doody also living in Athy at that time be his parents?

Cheers Jo
