Hello,
I am a newbee on this forum, but poking around on the web, I found your posts about the couple Henry DAVIS - Eliza STAYNER.
I put them in my database, not being 100 per cent sure Henry was born 1808, for he looks a bit young for a marriage in 1827, but who knows... I haven't found any other matching Henry in the OPC website.
I would be delighted to hear of his family and to learn a little about his descendants.
You may have a glance at him in my online database at
gw.geneanet.org/aurejac_w?lang=en;ocz=0;p=henry;n=davis;oc=4
Looking forward to hearing from you, :)
Regards,

Hi.My information is that Henry was born in 1801, but not baptised until 1808 ( his brother Samuel was also baptised at the same time) which is not uncommon. Also that he was the son of John and Ann Davis (Purse) who were married in St. Georges Church, Fordington in 1794. There first son William, appears to have been baptised in 1796. Question for you - I am interested in contacting the party named Donald who is also looking into this unless that happens to be you. Thanks from Canada.

Hello.
Thank you for your reply. No, unfortunately I'm not Donald. Nonetheless, I would be delighted to know the next degrees after Henry Davis & Eliza Stayner, to complete the Davis of Cerne Abbas family tree.
As you may have seen in my online tree (I gave you the link within my late message), I descend from William Davis, older brother of John, Henry & Samuel.
Moreover, would you have any information regarding Samuel Davis' descendants?
Thank you in advance.
Best wishes from France. :)

Hi. We'll I looked at your work and was quite impressed with all you have discovered . When I get organized I will pass on the progression from our Henry Davis to me . I don't know anything about Samuel but we are working on it and I have a contact in Tennessee USA that may be connected. I am especially interested in contacting the Donald who stated this conversation - may be in Texas USA . Seems like you and I have a Henry Davis cabinet maker from Dorchester in common. I had never heard of Cern Abbas before so thanks for that. I only have high school French it might be embarrassing to try to write in French. By the way I saw your mention of the three warren Davis's in Saskatchewan. I am the Director the other two are not related to us at all. Hopefully will meet you some day. Thanks. Warren.

Hello Warren.
Thank you for your post and your congratulations. I must confess that Ancestry is very helpful. Moreover I asked two Dorset genealogists, Jenny Dunford & Rita Pettet some more help.
I agree this Donald is a very elusive man: I unsuccessfully tried to find out some hints or tracks on the web.
Cerne Abbas is a very typical village which I have some more ancestors coming from (William Cave was relieving officer of the Cerne Abbas Union at least from 1837 to 1861).
I am pretty glad to write in English, even it sometimes looks a bit odd and clumsy. Do be indulgent. I try my best and I hope watching BBC nearly everyday, but the week end, will improve a little my chats...
Would you give me your private E-Mail (I dare not write to your professional address), I could send you a message from Geneanet enabling you to see every fiche, date and details of our contemporaries. A fortnigh ago I was to mask the informations about the people of less than a hundred years, for Robert P DAVIS complained to seeing himself in my database... Even the very few details I put in his fiche are easily accessed by anybody on the web using either FreeBMD, Ancestry or www.192.com. But it's the French law and I was to obey. Nonetheless, I am authorized to sending anybody who wants it a free access in private to the whole data...
Keep in touch,
Best wishes,
Arnaud

Hello

I have't logged in for many months and have only just seen these posts so apologies to anyone trying to contact me.

My Henry Davis does appear to be the son of John Davis and Ann Purse. I don't know anything about his siblings. Henry moved to London with his wife Eliza Stayner shortly after his marriage. I'm not sure when Henry and Eliza died. I have them in the 1871 census but not the 1881 census. There are a variety of possibilities in the BMD.

Henry and Eliza had 5 children to my knowledge and I am descended from their second child George Davis.

Happy to share information on what I do know about Henry.

Donald

Hello Donald,
Glad to get in touch.
You told 'Henry and Eliza had 5 children to my knowledge'. But I've only found four so far:
- Henry DAVIS 1831-1871
- George DAVIS 1834-1890
- John DAVIS 1838
- Helen DAVIS 1841
Would you be willing to give me the name of the fifth, with as much informations as possible?
I noticed that a man, nicknamed Coe75 on Ancestry, said 'I am related to Henry Davis through his grand daughter Emma-Marie (1861-1937) who married my great great granddad Horace James BRINKMAN (1862-1900).'  (14/09/2013). Do you know him (or her)?
You may have a look on my online tree at http://gw.geneanet.org/aurejac_w?lang=en&ocz=0&p=henry&n=davis&oc=4
I would be deeply delighted if you can help me correcting mistakes and adding some further informations upon your side.
I am still looking for Warren Davis' reply (nicknamed Kamsack in this topic).
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes,
Arnaud.

Hello Arnaud

The fifth child was Eliza Davis born 1836 and died 1845.  She's on the 1841 census with the family at St John Street Road, Clerkenwell. She was buried on 11th June, 1845 at St James', Clerkenwell. The burial record lists her as living at Upper Ashby Street and her age as eight-and-a-half.

Helen Davis who was one of the other chiildren married George Cobb in 1862 and died in 1929. I don't know what happened to John Davis (1838-?) or Henry (1831-?) and his wife Maria Garrod.

I'll have a close look at your tree over the weekend. It looks very comprehensive.

Coe75 is my younger brother.

best wishes

Donald
