hi pootelflump

My dad,s brother remembers Gertrude very well. she moved from Eastwood working mens club and he thinks moved to Wortley. i remember my dad also saying he stayed with her on several occasions.

we was wondering if you still live local if you would be prepared to meet up in a pub or a libary  maybe. we have a lot of info we could give you. including grave information on Thomas Wilkinson.

yours Dalton Barnsely

Hi DaltonBarnsley

Yes your right Gertrude and her husband Walter ran the Wortley Arms and my Dad remembers going. We even had a one point a Wortley Arms pub gravey boat. I do live relatively locally. Let me know how to contact you privately and we'll chat more

Hi
I came across your query and found it interesting as my great great great great grandparents were George Steel and Elizabeth ? (poss. Wittles?)
I have their children as Elizabeth b. 1801 spouse William CLayton
                                     Mary b. 1816 spouse Ralph Manley m, 23/07/1838
                                     Darfield, Yorkshire
Ann b. abt 1820 Hemingfield Barnsley
                                                spouse Abraham Nettleton
This is my family line
Their daughter Elizabeth married William Clayton.
In the 1841 census you will see Rebecca Clayton age 11 grand daughter living with George age 60 and Elizabeth age 60.
If you think this is any relations to you please post back would love to here from you.
Ann
