Hobbs Family, St Lawerence, Ramsgate
« on: Sunday 02 May 10 11:07 BST (UK) »
I'm now on the hunt for any information about the Hobbs family who lived in St Lawerence in the 1800s.
Thanks to Kerry1212 I was able to find out who my great great great great grandparents were but know I just want to know more!!!!

Now what I would love to know is does anyone else out there have any other information about things like William's occupation, who were his parents, when did he get married, actually anything about the Hobbs family would be great!!!!

This genealogy stuff is addictive!!!! :o
I've spent the last day filling in family trees!!!LOL

Maybe you should post a link to your other posts on the Hobbs -to save duplicate lookups.
kerry1212 posted some information re Thomas bates on the 1851 census.

I noticed kerry1212 doesn't seem to post references /addresses /occupations/relationships from the census.

really you need this information for your research -it is always good to have the source references.

also it is not necessary to send PM's with information unless it is something which cannot be posted on the boards -e.g. details of the living/details of 1911 census.
if details can be posted on the main board then it helps others who may be researching the same family.

It would help if you could tell us what information you have other than the 1841 census - to save duplicate look ups.

Thanks so much Suz!
That info is like gold to me!! ;D

Here's a link to my other posting about the Hobbs family.

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,453372.0.html

Until now I have been hitting a brick wall at Victoria, Australia where Thomas and Sarah moved to and raised their family.
It wasn't until I was sent a copy of a birth certificate of one of Thomas's children that I discovered where he(Thomas) was born!

BTW, the census details you posted for 1841 say Edward Burgess's age is 1. Is this a typo or is that what it says on the census?

Thanks again :) :)

Edward Burgess is age 1 on 1841 census -and "no" means he was not born in the county he was living in (Kent)

I think Sarah Burgess was the married daughter of William Hobbs

this looks like them in 1851
No 17 Munster? Square
St Pancras Middlesex
Edward Burgess head M 36 Coach Maker Marylebone Mddsx
Sarah wife 34 St Lawrence Kent
Edward son 11 Marylebone Mddsx
Ale?? H (think he could be Alexander H) son 2 St Pancras Middsx
Florence daughter 1 St Pancras Mddsx
Thomas Hobbs Brother U 30 carpenter St Lawrence Kent

(relationship of Thomas to head of house should really be "Brother in law " -I think!!)

HO107 1493 565 13

so it looks like possibly Sarah and son Edward were visiting family in 1841
