Parish Records for Little Glenham
« on: Saturday 01 May 10 21:04 BST (UK) »
I was just wondering where I could find parish records for the villiage of Little Glenham in Suffolk.
I'm trying to find the baptism record for Abraham Hunt who was born about 1804 and I cannot seem to locate them anywhere on the internet.

Also, would the baptism records tell me who his paretns were???

I can't tell you where to look, but I believe it should be Little Glemham which is in the Woodbridge district . . . I'd probably start with the Suffolk Record Office.

I think the baptism records almost always show the parents.

Hi

I have ancestors from Great Glemham. I also have Hunt ancestors in the same area from Parham.

When did Abraham marry and when did he die?

Ben

Hi Ben

Abraham married Frances Cakebread on Jan 23 1826 at Christ Church Greyfriars Newgate, London, England.
I have no idea when he died but I do know that he was still alive in 1881.

For more info check out my other thread.

Hi

It might be a good idea to see if there were any Hunt people born about the same time as Abraham in Little Glemham. They could be siblings of him if you do find some.

Hi

In the 1851 census is a Thomas Hunt born about 1797 in Little Glemham, Suffolk living in Islington, London.
In the 1861 census is a George Hunt born about 1812 in Little Glemham living in Little Glemham. Possible siblings of Abraham.

And the A******y England & Wales Christening Records has an Abraham Hunt baptised in Little Glemham on the 14th July 1844 son of George and Eliza Hunt. So he may have been named after Abraham born 1804 his possible uncle.

And a members tree on the same site says he died in 1885 in Essex, Sep quarter.

Thanks Ben.

I found those records of George and Eliza aswell.
I am pretty sure that George and Thomas were Abraham's brothers.
I just can't seem to work out who their parents were!!!! ???
I'm sure I'll figure it out though, it's all part of the fun of geneology!

BTW, apart from census records are their any other records I should be looking for??
I still haven't been able to locate any parish records for Little Glemham.

Hi

Suffolk has 3 record offices, one in Lowestoft, one in Ipswich and one in Bury St Edmunds. If you live near any of them you can go to any one and look up the PRs. I do know the Lowestoft one has microfiche for parishes for the whole of Suffolk. The parish registers of Little Glemham should give his parents names. A first name like Abraham helps.

Dammit! :P
I live in the Southern Hemisphere so strolling down to the record offices may be out of the question at this point in time!LOL
Thanks for your help though. ;D
