Hi,

I have a William Orford born in about 1841Marylebone (Lambeth), England to a John Orford and Mary Wigley. William married Mary Stone and immigrated to Australia around 1880-1883.

Can anyone help me find out more information about William and his parents' branches?

Sorry, just realised you are looking for earlier info on William.   I'll leave this on anyway as you might not have seen the Reuben refs.

UK census shows William and Mary ORFORD still in London 1881 at 51 St James Rd, Lower Holloway, Islington
William ORFORD 40, cabdriver b Lambeth
Mary 40 b London city
William 16 blacksmith's assistant b Bloomsbury
Jane 13 b St Pancras
Mary 10 b St Pancras
Ruben 8 b Islington
Henry 2 b Islington

So not emigrated till 1881 at least.

Edit to add
FreeBMD has the birth of a Reuben Sinclair ORFORD Mar qr 1873 (Islington)which matches the Ruben in the census entry.  There is also a death for a Reuben Sinclair ORFORD in 1870 (Pancras); no birth listed for the first Reuben.

Cannot see any of this family on NSW or Vic immigration.

But have just found a death report for a child in Burleigh Heads with father Reuben S Orford. (Brisbane Courier, 20 Jan, 1911)

There is also a Reuben St Clare ORFORD birth registered at Truro, Mar qtr 1906. Wonder if he is some connection.
