Thanks all! Such great help!

I have dutifully paid my 9,25 and now will wait, wait, wait for the GRO to get me the birth document.

Any and all additonal help will be much appreciated!

Just for good measure.......

I ordered the marriage license certificate as well since it carries a different date on it than I have in my records.

We shall see!

I've checked the 1861 census.

It lists Benjamin Barrett as born in 1821 in Binenton (perhaps Benenten?).

Ann Barrett as born in 1822 same location.

Fred G. is also attributed to same location.

Binenton (perhaps Benenten)?

I would suggest Benenden then ............... a neighbouring village

A number of parishes from this area are covered by the Mid Kent Marriage Index http://woodchurchancestry.org.uk/midkentmarriages/index.php ................. not that it helps much at the minute but will no doubt come in useful.

Have you tried looking for Benjamin & Ann BARRETT in other census years to see if there are any clues there?

Well now I have a new twist on my search.

In my first contacts I have been told there are EVENDEN, EVERNDEN and EVERENDEN spellings -- all in Cranbrook and environs.

Guess I will have to broaden my seach parameters!  I have never encountered Everenden before.

EVENDEN (Cranbrook, Frittenden, Biddenden), PHILLIPS (St. Minver, St. Breock), BATE (Egloshayle), BASTARD (Egloshayle), Vicha (Bohemia), Knechtl (Bohemia) and others

Hi all,

Been awhile, but I have been waiting for the GRO to send me the birth certificate and marriage certificate for Frederick George Evenden.

First, I got my money back as the listing for their marriage was in error and not them. They emailed me that they looked, found no related record, and refunded.

Better luck on the birth certificate for my great grandfather Frederick George Evenden, but one new wrinkle that I have not come across before on UK Entry of Birth documents.

Frederick George was in fact born 27 June, 1851 in Frittenden.  Father was William Evenden, with a residence of Frittenden.

NEW WRINKLE:  Name of mother as follows:  Elizabeth Evenden, late Allen, formerly Body.  I have never come across this use of late and fomrerly.

Can anyone offer some help with this?

Thanks
