hi im new here, was googling infomation for my nanas 90th bday (jean Beryl Hinton nee Blakey) somehow i got onto typing in her mothers name Muriel Jean Deed (well thats what we know her as) and this post came up...Amelia Deed is nanas grandmother...My cousin has done some research but has still not found out Amelias DOB or DOD...I have spoken with nan about her mother and grandmother unfortunately her mother left Jack when nan was only 2ish...Obviously nana has thought of her over the years and wonders what happened to her and where she is buried?? I would be interested in any information you have on Jean Muriel Deed (as you call her) d.o.b 1899 carlton vic...If any information arises regarding Amelia Deed i will be sure to pass it on... Thank you, regards kristy  :)

Hi blakeyhinton :)

Welcome to rootschat ;D

Well you now have Amelia's date of birth but unfortunately we haven't been able to find her date of death.

Wow... you people are amazing! Wish I had have found this site sooner.

My cousin put up a post earlier regarding Jean Muriel being our great grandmother and finding info for our grandmothers 90th birthday (Jean Beryl, she didn't like Beryl)

Jean Muriel DEED m Jack Stanley BLAKEY 1915 # 7447
1. Benjamin Stanley b 1916 Caulfield
2. Basil George b 1919 Caulfield
3. Beryl Jean b 1920 Caulfield

Jean Muriel did have a fourth child before she scarpered and my grandmothers knowledge is this (copied from my FTM files):
Muriel left Jack Stanley Blakey when Jean was about 2 years old. She left without taking her children, and stripped the house of everything, including all photos. It is believed Muriel left Jack for Cyril Beggbig. He also left his wife and family. Jean expects the two of them had other children.
Note that this is my grandmothers understanding, and she was two at the time.

Interesting comment from cando re Newman entry... If Muriel did marry Newman and this is the correct death entry.. has anyone checked death index for Mildred Button instead of Amelia.

Funny.. I drive past Springvale cemetary every day.. I'll try and stop and check out Muriel Jean Newman.

For interests sake in this investigation (?) I have included a photo of Muriel Jean Deed, Jack Stanley and son Ben.

Thanks for everyones efforts, you have given me another level on my family history.. which is always exciting. Hope to be able to repay in kind at some stage.

Cheers,
Sheryl

Can't find BEGBIG in the indexes but BEGBIE....

There is a death for a Cyril Stanley BEGBIE in 1961 and a cremation at Springvale but he appears on the electoral rolls with his wife through  to 1954.  He married in 1919.  I can't see the death of his wife to 1985.

This may be Jean Muriel.

Australian Electoral Roll
1942
BEGBIE Jean  196 Glenhuntly Road, Elsternwick  HD

So nice to put some faces to the names - thanks for putting up the photo.  And what a great coincidence to have new information ofr the birthday.

I plan to visit the National Library  late next week so am happy to do some newspaper look-ups to see if any death notices can give more clues - someone else amy be able to access them before then though.

Pleased to help however unless all the information is kept on the board, as long as it doesn't mention living people, it makes it difficult for us to help.  The smallest and often very insignificant facts may often lead to a good result eg the name BEGBIG which is actually BEGBIE.

Sheryl

I think it is most likely the correct death entry and if Muriel did marry NEWMAN and she may not have as perhaps she was still legally married to Jack Stanley BLAKEY, it would appear on the death certificate - ie if the knowledge had the correct information.

Why the name Mildred BUTTON?
