KEANE in Manchester area

I'm hoping that someone can help me out - I'm looking for a THOMAS KEANE. He was born in 1912 (according to his death reg) and married KATHLEEN PARKER in Bucklow. I'm searching for his actual birth, so I can trace his family back. When I've searched on FreeBMD, it tells me there are only 2 Thomas Keane's born in 1912 - both same quarter - one in Liverpool, one in Salford, Manchester. From what I can see, the Liverpool one is discounted as the family has already been researched by a couple of families; but it looks like the Manchester one (which would make more sense) died aged 2, in 1914 (as per freebmd). So where is my Thomas Keane?!? I keep coming to a dead end with him, so any help would be gratefully accepted! He died in Manchester in 1985.

Hello,
do you have his marriage certificate with a father's name?

His death (if he is Trafford area) is registered as Thomas Kevin Keane and the marriage is for Thomas K Keane.

Do you know that he was born in Lancashire area?
Could he have been Irish?

Hi, thanks for the reply. Here is what it says on marriage cert. Not much of a help, really.


Thomas Kevin Keane (b. 24/2/1912), an 'Asbestos Cement Maker Clerk' married Kathleen Louise Parker (b.25/08/1912) on the 11th May 1948 in St. Josephs Chapel in Bucklow.
Father of Thomas = Thomas - a shop manager (jeweller).
Father of Kathleen = James Parker (deceased) - a municipal bus driver. (this is not true, she was illegitimate)
They lived at 34 Harboro Road, Sale - now a children's home.
Witnesses to marriage = W J Keane and J C Parker. No idea who they are.

I don't believe the 'Parker' is related, as Kathleen was a long way away from her known family.

He could have been irish..... hmmmm....  ???

Hello again,

Free BMD shows Keanes in Bucklow around the right time e.g. marriage of a Michael F in 1911 and a John B in 1914 with a couple of births but sadly no Thomases  :(

Have you tried 1911 census for a Thomas snr?

Yes, I have just been looking. There don't seem to be any there in 1901 and then the ones you say- youngish and single in 1911 which kind of indicates that perhaps they were 'coming in'.
Maybe the shop manager was made up too?
