kenny Family Windsor, Ontario
« on: Tuesday 27 April 10 16:09 BST (UK) »
Hi there
I am looking for some information on the Kenny family from Windsor, Ontario. I know that Moses M Kenny died on 1st July 1968 in Belfast while on holiday age 78 but that his body was transferred to the family burial ground in Windsor Ontario. His wife was Margaret (nee Crothers) who died a few years before him. Looking for what cemetery and also when Maggie died.
Hope someone can help me.
THanks

The Windsor Public Library has obituaries indexed.  There is one for Moses McClintock KENNEY for July 9 1968.
They don't indicate on the website what the procedure for getting a copy of the obituary is but I would contact the Windsor Library and use their Ask A Librarian feature.  The obituary should get you the cemetery that he is buried in.

In case you don't have it (if this is your family) there are passenger lists showing Moses Kenney arriving Canada on 26 April 1926 on the Doric.  He is travelling to his cousin Mr. Hugh Broadview of Regina Saskatchewan and left his wife Maggie Kenney (29) and children Samuel(4) and William(9 mos) at Society St. Coleraine, N. Ireland.

The following year travelling from Belfast to Quebec on the Aurania and arriving 14 May 1927 is the family of
Moses Kenney, 34, b. Ballymena, Margaret, 31, b. Kells, Samuel, 5 b. Whitehouse and William 2 b. Whitehouse.  They are enroute to his employer Mr. Tomlinson Grenfell Saskatchewan.  His Irish contact was his mother Mrs. E. Kenney Kells, Co. Antrim.

Thank you for this information. This is indeed who I am looking for. I am related to his wife Maggie and found her on the 1930 census and I have his death record from a local paper here in Northern Ireland but no information on her death. Was hoping that there maybe a headstone and it would have that information. Will contact Windsor library and hopefully they can assist me further.

There is a book on Grenfell, Saskatchewan from ourroots.ca

If you found them on the 1930 census then they must not have stayed in Canada long before moving to the U.S.

Debbie... these are my grandparents... they never moved to Michigan .. they both died while living in Windsor area ( Essex County)  she died many years before him.. she was only 52 yrs. old.. they are both buried in the Greenlawn Cemetery on Highway 3...outside of Windsor. Many other family members are buried there as well...  William , Mary, Norman ... My Dad was Samuel ( David) Kenney...he died in 1979 ( 57yrs old)  bad hearts... Moses did die in Belfast in first hours of a visit there in 1968 ... and body was flown back to Canada .. he was with William at the time.

Hi Maureen
I'm on facebook also under Amanda Turbitt McComb. My email address is * if you want to contact me. I think I replied to you on another question in regards to the Kenney family. I will explain where I come into the family. My Gt grandfather was Samuel David Currie. He had a sister Agnes Leitch (Margaret Rea Crothers mother) and a brother James. They both emigrated but Samuel David stayed here in Tardree, Co Antrim. I have a lot of photos and also paper notice of your grandfathers death here in Northern Ireland that my grandmother kept. Do you have dates, photos of headstones etc of any of the Kenney/Crothers family. I am also keen on any information on James Currie. I have a photo of him with his wife on the Queen Elizabeth ship but very little information on him. My Gt Grandfather had 7 children of which his youngest Sarah (known as Sadie) is still alive here in Northern Ireland. I know that she will be delighted when I tell her that I have now come across some of the  Kenney family.
Have tried to facebook you this evening but there are a lot of Margaret Kenney so don't know which one is you. It is now 1030 pm here in Ireland and I am heading to bed so will contact you tomorrow evening if thats ok.
Thanks for getting in touch and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
