ErsTom,

How wonderful that you actually knew these members of my family.    I have many old photographs that belonged to my late father, some of which I think are of the Nantlle family.

Did you also know another cousin of my father, Jane Rainford nee Jones, she died 1966, 11 Victoria Terrace; her husband died two years later. I have found their grave in Macpeleh, Penygroes, next to  Jane's grandparents (My gt.grandparents) Owen and Jane Jones.

Jane had a brother Lewellyn Wynne Jones born 1890 days before the death of his mother, Laura Jones nee Jones.

Other Jones family had lived 1 Kinmel Terrace.

I will p.m. you with my email address, if that is o.k. with you?

Diolch,

Glenys

Gwil,

Thank you so very much for all that information on Evan Evans; I am so glad to know what became of him, sadly it was an untimely death.

You're welcome. I presume you know that Llewelyn Wynne Jones was also a WW1 casualty?

I've just noticed what you said about Llewelyns' mother died soon after his birth. The CWGC entry doesn't indicate 'the late'. I now see that I musn't assume that just because the man is shown as 'son of..' then that indicates the parents were still alive. Helps when I'm baffled at census entries!

Glenys, I knew Mrs Rainford Very well, she used to visit Maggie Llewelyn Jones who lived in 8 Kinmel Terrace. We lived as a family in No 9. Mrs Rainford had a son called Leslie.

Gwil,

I wasn't aware that Llewelyn had emigrated or that he had died in WW1. Many thanks for this information.

Very interesting that the CWGC info states his parents to be his birth parents, not his adopted parents.  Maybe he wasn't legally adopted !!!

He was born 30th october 1890 Penrorsedd Terrace, his mother Jane died same address , of 'confinement septicaemia' on 9 November 1890.

1891 finds him aged 5 years boarding at 25 Nantlle Terrace.
1901 - 12 Victoria Terrace, adopted son of Hugh and Dorothy Jones.
1912 ish - Chapel House, Nantlle - ships agents clerk, still living with adopted parents.

His father Llewelyn Jones born 1861 Nantlle, remarried in 1899 to Margaret A.Hughes, b.c. 1867 Llanllyfni.

1891 - 3 Baladeulyn Terrace - widowed.
1901 - same address - now remarried.

1912 ish they were living  8 Kinmel Terrace with their children Owen Hugh Jones bc.1902, and Maggie Jones b.c. 1905.

Rhosboeth,

Thanks for the 1901 info - always good to find other posters interested in helping others.

Diolch,

Glenys

ErsTom,

Jane Rainford nee Jones, as well as being a cousin to my Dad and his four sisters, was a very close friend of my Dad's eldest sister, Dilys.

It really is an exciting time for me,  to be in contact with you, who knew these members of my family !!!!!!
